REFIT: Dance Party or Workout?

This week set the bar high as I visited the REFIT Studio in downtown Waco. After weeks of hearing from others how fun this studio was, I decided to try it myself. It did not disappoint, and REFIT exceeded my expectations. At first, I was unsure of the class because I am not a huge dancer, but I soon changed my mind.

From the minute I walked in, the staff welcomed me around the studio and introduced me to the instructor, Maddy. She got to know me, chatted with me about the class, and then left to get the class started. There were 12 others in the class that day, and it was about 45 minutes long. The studio had an open space for the participants and a stage for the instructor.

After a quick warm-up, we got into the depth of the class. Maddy said you work from the feet, then move up. The beginning didn’t feel like a workout, but that feeling turned around so quickly. The dance cardio hit towards the middle of the class, and I was sweating hard. The class went by fast because I had so much fun, and Maddy’s energy was contagious.

Following the workout, Maddy led the class to a cool-down, which included different stretches to get our heart rates down. After class, she talked to me to hear how I felt about the class and even introduced me to some other Baylor students there.

As I walked out, the other ladies at the front desk, including the manager, introduced themselves and told me about the memberships. The cool part of REFIT is the student membership; it is designed for a semester and costs $159 for three months. This package gives you unlimited classes and access to virtual classes.

The membership package for students stood out because they are way more affordable than any other studio I have visited. Like the other studios, your first class is free, and there is no pressure to commit to a membership package after the class.

My favorite part of the studio was the staff. They talked to me for a while after the class and were genuinely trying to get to know me.

Overall, this studio is one of my favorites. The workout did not feel like a workout, but I was sore the next day. If you want a good but fun workout, go to REFIT. I recommend coming to REFIT with friends. My mom and I went together to try it, and we had a blast! We both are excited to return, and I know I will bring all my friends.
